The White Hart Hotel is a former Coaching Inn set in the centre of Wiveliscombe. A short drive from Taunton and the M5 the White Hart is an ideal base for both business and pleasure. A privately owned 16 bedroom hotel, dating back over 350 years. The White Hart changed ownership in 2004 and has recently undergone a major refurbishment in 2005, sympathetically blending old with new. Standing in the square of the old town of Wiveliscombe, the hotel offers en suite accommodation, a popular restaurant and bar menu and a genial atmosphere. The hotel has a well stocked bar that offers a selection of real ales, including those from the towns two breweries, Cotleigh and Exmoor. Only 5 miles from Oake Manor Golf course. This year is the 200th anniversary of The White Hart. Previously it was known as the Green Dragon.

Taunton is the county town of Somerset, England. Taunton civil parish has a population of 44,050[1]. Suburbs of the town include Bishops Hull, Staplegrove and Galmington, giving a total population for the "Taunton Urban Area" of 58,241 according to the 2001 census, up 4.3% since 1991. At some time before the Domesday Survey Taunton had become a borough with very considerable privileges, governed by a portreeve appointed by the bishops. It did not obtain a charter of incorporation until that of 1627, which was renewed in 1677. The corporation existed until 1792, when the charter lapsed owing to vacancies in the number of the corporate body, and Taunton was not reincorporated until 1877. The medieval fairs and markets of Taunton (it still holds a weekly market today), were celebrated for the sale of woollen cloth called "Tauntons" made in the town. On the decline of the west of England woollen industry, silk-weaving was introduced at the end of the 18th century.
