Our Village, The charming and peaceful village of Great Strickland (5 miles south of Penrith off the A6) lies in the heart of the Eden Valley farming community nestling between the spectacular Northern Pennines and beautiful Lakes. The Scottish Borders and Hadrian's Wall are to the North, the Dales National Park to the South and Keswick and Derwentwater to the West,the lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater are only a short drive away through the unspoilt valleys of Swindale and Sleddale. Lowther Castle is on our doorstep The National Cycle Network's 136 mile "Sea to Sea" C2C cycle route passes through Penrith (10 minute drive). The Keswick to Penrith section, about 25 miles long, is described as "an easy ride of ever changing views". Other National Cycle Network routes nearby include Penrith to Carlisle, Penrith to Appleby and Keswick to Kendal.
