Anton & Penny welcome you to The Strickland Arms, Great Strickland, Penrith, Cumbria ‘The Warmest Friendliest Pub in the Eden Valley’. We believe The Strickland Arms is a pub of character and distinction at the heart of the village community. We have a secluded rear garden and a dry-stone walled terraced front with an abundant display of flowers. Our Bed and Breakfast Accommodation comprises 2 Flexible Rooms that are offered as 2 Double Rooms OR as 2 Twin Rooms, both En-suite with shower, washbasin and toilet recently refurbished to a Quality standard whilst retaining some features and character of its previous use as a Barn, incl of Full English Breakfast. Our Village, The charming and peaceful village of Great Strickland (5 miles south of Penrith off the A6) lies in the heart of the Eden Valley farming community nestling between the spectacular Northern Pennines and beautiful Lakes. The Scottish Borders and Hadrian's Wall are to the North, the Dales National Park to the South and Keswick and Derwentwater to the West,the lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater are only a short drive away through the unspoilt valleys of Swindale and Sleddale. Lowther Castle is on our doorstep The National Cycle Network's 136 mile "Sea to Sea" C2C cycle route passes through Penrith (10 minute drive). The Keswick to Penrith section, about 25 miles long, is described as "an easy ride of ever changing views". Other National Cycle Network routes nearby include Penrith to Carlisle, Penrith to Appleby and Keswick to Kendal. Eden is an outstanding area for walking, whether you enjoy a hike on the high open fells or a gentle riverside stroll. If you cycle, you'll love the quiet country lanes and Cycle Routes through all surrounding villages Explore the miles of footpaths across meadow and pasture, through fields of oats and tiny woodland copses to discover a hidden village or lonesome farmstead
