Hotel Summary rooms from £80.00Hospitality has been dispensed at The Griffin for the last 450 years. The doors opened for the first time in about 1560, in the part of the building fronting Church Street. It was extended in the 17th and 18th centuries with a frontage onto the churchyard. The Griffin was designed as an inn, one feature being wooden cobbles in the archway to muffle the horses hooves, so as not to disturb the guests sleeping upstairs! The Griffin continues to be at the heart of the communities activities, providing everything from morning coffee and biscuits to fine à la carte meals. The facilities have been enhanced by the addition of a garden through the arch, in the lee of an ancient flint wall and with an overhanging chestnut tree. It is both a suntrap and a quiet haven in the centre of town. Guest ReviewsWe Currently Have No Reviews for Griffin Hotel. |
