Smallwood House Hotel is a family run hotel in Ambleside in the heart of the English Lake District. We offer the perfect venue for family holidays, activity weekends or group vacations. We hope you will enjoy your tour of our hotel website and join us soon in the English Lake District for an enjoyable break. All of our rooms have been upgraded over the years, all the en-suite rooms are fully tiled and all have underfloor heating in the en-suites. As we are in the heart of Ambleside, we are very convenient for all the shops, restaurants & pubs. It is an excellent centre for walking, so many gentle and not so gentle walks emanate from Ambleside. It is also very well served by the bus routes. Guests of the Smallwood House have complimentary use of the Salutation Hotel leisure facilites where you can swim, gym, steam, sauna & use the hot tub if desired. One week in each summer month we serve freshly cooked meals in our dining room, groups of 6 or more may book evening meals at other times. Private car parking is available for our guests. Within the vicinity there is crazy golf, tennis, bowling, park, canoeing & kayaking, boat hire on the lake, generally something to please most people. If you enjoy the theatre, you will find good entertainment in Keswick - Theatre by the Lake, Kendal - Brewery theatre, Bowness - Old Laundry theatre, Ulverston - Forum and Lancaster - The Dukes, some very good evenings theatre can be found here.
