Sheffield United Football Club - Football Club

Sheffield United Football Club - Football Club

Bramall Lane has to me been one of the most underated grounds in the country. The construction of three large new stands, plus the filling in of two corners, makes it one of the best in the first division. Both sides of the ground are large single tiered stands, as is the Kop at one end. The only disappointment with the latter is two large supporting pillars. Opposite is the Bramall Lane Stand, the oldest present and where the away fans are housed. This stand is two tiered and looks odd as it has two large supporting pillars in the upper tier. It also has an electric scoreboard, perched between the two tiers. Probably the smartest looking stand is the HFS Loans Stand at one side of the pitch.

Although the ground has not had the level of new investment some other clubs have recently received, it is still a beautiful ground oozing character. It has four large separate two tiered stands, which are all covered. The South Stand on one side of the ground is the largest of the stands and is superb looking. Unfortunately, only one corner of the ground is filled (see picture below), between the West and North Stands. This area is uncovered. In the other corner is a small electric scoreboard. Outside the ground near the main entrance is a memorial to the 96 fans who died at Hillsborough in 1989, at the FA Cup Semi Final between Liverpool & Nottingham Forest. The memorial is normally covered in flowers left by those who wished to pay their respects.

Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield is convenient and popular for holidaymakers and business travellers. It is a treat to travel from this brand new terminal building. The runway at 2,741 metres, is able to handle Boeing 747 jumbo jets, which allows it to serve popular destinations in the US, Caribbean, Far East as well as Europe. It is convenient to the national motorway network, East Coast Main Line and has a catchment of 4 million people within a one hour drive time. Quality of the airfield infrastructure offers a wide range of aviation services for passengers, freight, manufacturing and maintenance services.
