By car: - Leave the M4 at junction 19 and take the M32. - Exit at junction 1 and take the A4174 for Filton and Bristol Parkway station. - Continue for one mile until the large roundabout. Turn right and the hotel is on the left, with Sainsburys on the right. - Turn left at the next 2 roundabouts for the entrance into New Road. The hotel entrance is 100 yards further up.

UWE was founded in 1970 as Bristol Polytechnic, however its roots go back to the foundation of the Merchant Venturers' Navigation School in 1595. The Memorial Stadium has been owned by Bristol Rovers since 1998, when it was pruchased from the Bristol Rugby club, who were in administration at the time. The old Bristol Rugby Club has no connection to the present Bristol Shoguns, who are now tenants at the stadium and a new company altogether. The stadium capacity is just under 12,000, around 3,000 of which is seating. The seats are all located in the Mead Civil Engineering Stand, the DAS Stand and the XXXX Stand-the rest of the stadium os terracing only.
