Doncaster Rovers Football Club - Football CLub

Doncaster Rovers Football Club - Football CLub

Distance 0.83 miles (1.33 km)
Belle Vue has been the home of English professional football club Doncaster Rovers since 1922. The ground was opened by Charles E. Sutcliffe from the Football League on Saturday, August 26 of that year. In 1927 the main stand at Doncaster's former ground in the suburb of Bennetthorpe was jacked up and moved on rollers to Belle Vue to form the family stand, where it remained until 1985 when the tragic events at Bradford City meant that the old wooden structure was deemed unsafe and was demolished. A new stadium has long been mooted for Doncaster Rovers. The stadium finally started to become a reality when Planning permission was granted. Construction started on the 17th of October 2005 of a 15,000 all-seater community stadium complex and it is expected to be complete by December 2006.

Over half a million people attend commercial events at Doncaster Exhibition and Conference Centre each year and that doesn't include visitors to free trade shows and conferences. The combination of a large (4,300 sq.m) exhibition hall with numerous, well equipped, conference rooms and substantial enclosed outdoor space offers organisers of many different types of events an optimum, flexible package. Combine a conference with a pop concert; a fun day for employees with an exhibition of products; a meeting with corporate entertainment in the private boxes facing onto the racecourse. Previous exhibitions have included: National Custom Car Show, World Championship Budgerigar show and Bradford Small Livestock show.

Conisbrough Castle
South Yorkshire
The white, cylindrical keep of this 12th-century castle is a spectacular structure. Made of magnesian limestone, it is the only example of its kind in England. Recently restored, with two new floors and a roof, it is a fine example of medieval architecture and was one of the inspirations for Sir Walter Scotts classic novel, Ivanhoe.
