Waddesdon Manor - Historical Houses

Waddesdon Manor - Historical Houses

Distance 5.25 miles (8.41 km)
Waddesdon manor was built between 1874 and 1889 in the style of a 16th-century French chateau for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild to entertain his guests and display his vast collection of art treasures. It houses an extraordinary assemblage of French 18th-century decorative arts to rank in importance with the Metropolitan Museum, New York and the Louvre in Paris. Outstanding paintings include portraits by Gainsborough and Reynolds and works by Dutch and Flemish masters of the 17th-century. Waddesdon has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain and is renowned for its seasonal displays. A Rococo-style aviary houses a splendid collection of exotic birds and vintage Rothschild wines are found in the wine cellars. This property is owned by The National Trust.

Chiltern Forest Golf Club - Aylesbury - Golf

Chiltern Forest Golf Club - Aylesbury - Golf

Distance 5.57 miles (8.91 km)
Chiltern Forest Golf Club nestles in the Chilterns on the edge of Wendover Woods. It is close to the A41, the dual carriageway leading to the M25 only 15 minutes away. The M1 and M40 motorways are also in close proximity. Golf has been played on this site since 1894. Originally, it was a 6 hole course developed by the Rothchild family. However, at the time of the first world war it was taken over by the RAF who built the course into 9 holes. It was purchased by the members in 1979 who have since developed the challenging and beautiful course that we have today together with a modern clubhouse. Take on a real golfing challenge. The Badger, a 160 yard par 3 is featured in the book "The 100 most difficult holes in England".

Aylesbury Vale Golf Club - Leighton Buzzard - Golf

Aylesbury Vale Golf Club - Leighton Buzzard - Golf

Distance 6.66 miles (10.65 km)
Our challenging course is 18 holes, par and S.S.S. 72 and measures 6,612 yards from the competition tees. We were founded in 1989 and open for play in 1991. Whilst the course is long, the fairways are generous and the holes are surrounded by trees. The course has been designed with ample space between holes. You play your own hole, there are no cross overs and it is difficult to knock your ball onto another fairway due to the spacious layout. A natural brook runs through the course, which creates some challenging water features. Please make use of our restaurant, bars, changing rooms, showers, driving range, putting green, golf shop and club professional. We look forward to seeing you soon.
