Bolton Wanderers Football Club - Football Club

Distance 0.13 miles (0.21 km)
Bolton began life back in 1874 as a church side - the Christ Church Sunday School - but broke away three years later when the vicar started to get antsy about them using church premises. And when the Football League was formed in 1888 they were one of the founder members. Bolton's history has not always been a successful one - with relegation to Division Four in 1987 counting as the low point in a poor spell that only ended about ten years ago. But they are finally finding their feet again and this will be their third consecutive season in the Premiership. Fast Fact: Bolton's all time leading goalscorer is Nat Lofthouse who scored 285 goals in 503 games.

A visit to Bolton Old Links provides a memorable experience - Eighteen uniquely challenging holes, superb conditioning, panoramic views, a traditional clubhouse, real ale and high quality catering. This superb test of moorland golf was opened in its present form in 1924 and owes much of its layout and design to the famous architect Dr Alister MacKenzie, who was responsible for Augusta National amongst other famous courses. Bolton Old Links Golf Club welcomes visitors both informally to play a round with a friend, or as part of a more organised group.

Distance 3.43 miles (5.49 km)
This 18 hole park land course threads its way through magnificent mature trees and provides a challenge that is mastered by few. Originally constructed as a nine hole course in 1898 and later extended to eighteen holes Wigan Golf Course is a very pleasant parkland course which offers a good test of golf on fairly level terrain. The extended course was designed by Gaunt & Marnock and incorporates modern specification greens which provided excellent playing surfaces throughout the year. Whilst not extremely long by modern standards the 6008 yards have stood the test of time with the course record still a very respectable 67 against a par of 70.
