Rotherham United Football Club - Football Club

Rotherham United Football Club - Football Club

Club formed in 1870. On one side is the partly covered all seater Main Stand, which in common with the rest of the ground, has a number of supporting pillars. It is about 2/3rds of the length of the pitch and to one side, some strange looking executive boxes/administration offices have been erected. I say strange, as they look like a load of Portakabins that have been bolted together. The corner at this part of the ground is open and overlooked by a railway bridge. On my last visit, this had many supporters viewing the game for free. The other side, the Millmoor Lane Stand, has a mixture of covered and open seating.

Conisbrough Castle
South Yorkshire
The white, cylindrical keep of this 12th-century castle is a spectacular structure. Made of magnesian limestone, it is the only example of its kind in England. Recently restored, with two new floors and a roof, it is a fine example of medieval architecture and was one of the inspirations for Sir Walter Scotts classic novel, Ivanhoe.

Dearne Valley College - Rotherham - University

Distance 5.32 miles (8.5 km)
Dearne Valley College can trace its origins back to the Mechanics Institute in Wath. It first became a college of further education in 1976 when Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council established the Rockingham College of Further Education. It was renamed Dearne Valley College in September 1996 when a new 7.5 million development was opened on the site of the former Manvers colliery. We celebrated the 10th anniversary of the new building this year.
