Horsley Lodge Golf Club - Horsley - Golf

Distance 1.91 miles (3.05 km)
Horsley Lodge Golf Course was re-designed in 1999 by Britains Walker Cup captain and former World Champion, Peter McEvoy. It was the first USGA specification 18 hole course in The Midlands and is quite spectacular. Expertly moulded into 168 acres of wonderful Derbyshire countryside, this remains a thinking course where a variety of shot making skills are necessary to arrive at the green, where subtle undulations provide the golfer with a further challenge. McEvoys design skills have made it a wonderful golfing experience.

Derby Centre - Town Centre

Distance 5.32 miles (8.52 km)
Derby is a former spa town that lies on the River Derwent. The citys history dates back to Roman times but it was only given city status in 1977 by Queen Elizabeth II. The town has been involved in many industries, including beer, cloth, porcelain and Rolls Royce aircraft engines and has been referred to as the home of industry. The popular consensus of opinion is that Derby is a corruption of the Danish Deor-a-By, meaning village of the deer. It was the industrial revolution that transformed Derby into a centre for the silk industry and then brought a major railway terminus to the city. The city has much to offer the visitor in its own right, but is also an excellent base for touring the fantastic countryside in the region.
