Distance 1.03 miles (1.64 km)
Founded in 1908, Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club has always been based on its present site but, from the original 9 holes, has been extended to the present 18 holes which have been in use since the 1960's. Much of the course is played through mature woodlands and presents a stern test for all degrees of proficiency, in particular the 15th, the signature hole. We hope that you enjoy not only the course, but also the hospitality of our members and staff. We have a very attractive Clubhouse and dining room and the catering is of a very high standard. We look forward to welcoming you at Newcastle.

Newcastle Centre - Town Centre

Distance 1.56 miles (2.5 km)
Newcastle under Lyme is ideally situated in the heart of England, and the perfect place for a refreshing break. Easily accessible by road and rail, the town lies in pretty rolling countryside between Manchester and Birmingham, and within easy reach of the Peak District and the Welsh Border country. It combines rural charm with a tradition of industry that changed the world. Newcastle under Lyme is an historic market town with a pleasant, floral, traffic-free centre. Small specialist shops are mixed with larger national stores and the colourful, centuries-old open market is full of characters and bargains. There are lots of cafes, bars, restaurants and pubs, two beautiful town gardens to relax in, and a Museum and Art Gallery set in 8 acres of parkland.

Stoke City Football Club - Football Club

Stoke City Football Club - Football Club

Distance 2.11 miles (3.38 km)
The stadium opened in 1997, looks imposing from afar, as it is perched on a hill with hardly any buildings around it. It looks good when lit up at night. A vast improvement on the old Victoria Ground which has now sadly been demolished. It is a fair sized stadium comprising three separate stands, one of which extends half way around the ground. I'm a great fan of grounds which are totally enclosed, so it is a shame that this new ground has three open corners. Internally, I found the stadium a bit lacking in character, however I'm sure this will develop in time. In one corner of the ground next to the away end is a large electric scoreboard.
