Our Experience
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Siddings this week. The hotel had just reopened after a 10 day refurbishment, we did have a short time to wait for our room The Silver Jubilee room as they were putting the finishing touches to it. The room was clean and nicely presented with a brand new modern en-suit, fresh new carpets and curtains. Unfortunately some of the furniture had been revarnished and was still very tacky to the touch but we didn\'t let this spoil our experience.

The staff and owner CID were all very pleasant and helpful.

We also had a wonderful meal in the restaurant a period railway carriage at a very reasonable price.

All in all a very enjoyable experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for something different.

Lovely Little Stay
A lovely nice stay, does exactly what you want in regards to staying in a railway carriage, I would definately go again.

If I had to find a criticism - the hotel may want to invest in replacing some of the old carpet in the room. I understand the original look is part of what it is, I just felt slightly uncomfortable having my socks off walking around the room.

Other than that, as I said a lovely stay that I will recommend to others

Great Find
Wanted something a little different as a xmas present. Was not disapointed. What a fantastic place. Great atmosphere. Really friendly made you feel so welcome. The stay in the rail carriages. Well how many times in life would you expect to be doing that. So relaxing. Food was the best nothing too much trouble. The open fire which was managed by the mother. Kept us warm and cosy all night.thanks for that. Will be back. Well worth a visit. Very family friendly.

Surprise Birthday Treat
Booked to stay for one night to celebrate my husbands birthday. Allocated the rail enthusiasts room which was great with regular trains passing a few yards away throughout the day. The room was snug as you would expect for a train carriage with a very comfortable bed and en suite with shower. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided but also available in the cosy bar which had a lovely log fire. We chose to eat in the restaurant with views of the railway and enjoyed a delicious a la carte meal. The staff were very attentive and keen to ensure we enjoyed our meal. As it was a Greek Night, when we retired to the bar we were able to enjoy the Greek music and dancing which we were encouraged to join in with. Next morning there was a continental breakfast, more than enough after the huge meal the previous night. All in all a very enjoyable stay. All the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. We would definitely go back

Another Chilled Out Stay At The Sidings
This was our third stay at the sidings and it was just as enjoyable as our previous two visits. Although the Greek night had been cancelled very late in the day we still had a chilled out evening in the bar following a lovely meal in the restaurant car. Sid and his staff are very hospitable and look after you from start to finish. Its not very often that you receive service as friendly as this. As usual the room was quirky which adds to the enjoyment. We will be back soon for a fourth visit. Thank you to all at the Sidings.

Quaint And Quirky Hotel
Stayed here overnight this week on a Groupon voucher which was very good value. The bedrooms are in a railway carriage and are very quirky and great fun. If you are looking for luxury this is not for you as the rooms are definitely vintage and authentic but the bed was comfortable and the food was lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to busy train lines which may disturb some people but we felt added to the atmosphere of the place. This was our second visit and we will definitely go again.

Quirky Stay But Needs Improvement
We got a nice welcome and was showed to our room. we expected the room to be compact and it was. I was shocked by the towels one was so threadbare it had a hole in it the others had threads hanging from them. There was a light missing but even with this on it would have been rather murky certainly not enough to read. We were told that there was a problem with the electrics and given a rather unsuitable lamp. The curtains were hanging off the rail and there was not enough hooks to hang things on. The evening meal was nice enough but I asked for the house red shiraz which I thought was £13.95 but realised when I got home that I was charged £16.95. The continental breakfast could have been better cornflakes or coco pops on the first day cheap processed ham but enjoyed the fruit and salad with the cheeses on the first morning. The second morning there was no fruit and salad- Why? There was a packet of bran flakes though muesli would have been appreciated. Lots of inconsistencies. The rubbish that is seen outside from the bedroom corridors between the bedroom carriages need clearing. We liked the lounge and the bottled beers. It was an enjoyable stay as the staff are very friendly but needs improvements.

Great For Train Lovers.
Have stayed here before and thoroughly enjoyed it so didn\'t hesitate to return with my sister-in-law who absolutely loves trains. For the most part, The Sidings did not disappoint, but they did make a mistake in our room booking which was rather disappointing as I had gone to a lot of trouble to ensure we had the room with a double aspect on the railway, as my sister-in-law, who has a learning disability, was particularly looking forward to sitting in bed watching the trains. However, the room we got was very comfortable and did have a view on one side at least, and they gave us a free drink as an apology. (To add insult to injury, the trains didn\'t start running in the morning until 9.45am as it was a Sunday, but that was hardly the hotel\'s fault!!) The food in the restaurant was extremely good. The breakfast (continental) was acceptable but nothing special. I am happy to recommend this hotel, but my advice would be to check in early if you want a particular room!!

Step Back In Time
We were given a warm enthusiastic greeting when we arrived at The Sidings. After signing in we were given room keys to start our adventure. Our room was cosy which was to be expected. The bathroom was clean and towels were provided, maybe two per person would have been better. The bar looked well stocked and service was always 110% and always with friendly banter. By evening the restaurant car took you back to times gone by. It was beautifully set out with in intimate booths as was during the steam age. The menu gave a good choice of Greek dishes with full explanations given by the staff. Post dining a roaring log fire awaited in the bar area. A personal favourite part of mine. Slumber came easy in comfortable beds in a warm room.

Oh I\'ve forgotten the constant reminder of trains clattering past. To be honest if you book into The Sidings as either a train buff or as someone wanting to stay in quirky surroundings the noise of the trains blend gentle into the background.

The staff couldn\'t have been anymore helpful. They always had smiles on their faces and friendly.

Overall I would recommend The Sidings to family and friends without a doubt!

Unique Quirky Experience
We really enjoyed our stay at this very unusual venue. You would think it would be noisy next to the track - we stayed a Saturday night and didn\'t hear or see a train from 2300 to nearly 0900. The welcome was. The food was good and we enjoyed the Cypriot theme. Our room (cabin) was very comfortable with an excellent view of the track. This is not a venue simply for train spotters - we feel certain many couples would simply enjoy the experience of dining in a Pullman car and sleeping in a carriage rather than the usual non despite chain hotel. We will visit again.
