Welcome to Brathay Lodge in the heart of the Lake District close to the centre of the village of Ambleside. Enjoy our hospitality on a B&B basis as a couple or with family & friends and donât leave the dog behind! Brathay Lodge has a number of pet friendly rooms with their own private access. Whether you need somewhere for an overnight stay or a relaxing break away from it all, a warm and friendly welcome awaits you at Brathay Lodge. Explore the beautiful, picturesque Lake District sail, walk or ride you donât need to move your car from our private on site car park! From our doorstep Windermere, Grasmere, Hawkshead and Coniston all are within easy reach. In the evening enjoy all that Ambleside has to offer with its numerous pubs, restaurants or visit the cinema. We have 20 rooms available these are made up of standard, superior / twin (ground floor, pet friendly included), triple, quadruple, family rooms (sleeps 3-5) and four poster suites (king-size beds included).

Windermere Steamboats & Museum is located on a former sand wharf site where, for many years, barges unloaded gravel dredged from the bed of the lake. When this operation ceased in 1975, the Windermere Nautical Trust acquired the use of the site and the Museum was built in 1976-77 with the help of The Maritime Trust and the English Tourist Board.
