Best Stay Ever!!
Hawthorns is so charming. Very clean!!! They take great pride in everything they do. The staff was perfectly lovely and so accomodating. The food their Chef puts out is to die for!! I\'ve quite eaten well for 4 days. The pricing is very affordable and convenient location. I wouldn\'t think of staying anywhere else when I go back. Simon and his staff, and the locals that come there make you feel right at home!!

Short Break
We stayed at the Hawthorns back in March for one night (Saturday to Sunday). We stayed in the family room and it was incredibly spacious, taking over 2 floors (4 single beds upstairs, double and sitting area downstairs). The room was clean and we were very happy with it. We were out and about most of the day and did not eat at the hotel apart from breakfast the following morning. The breakfast is buffet style and everyone in our party enjoyed it. I am a vegetarian and was a little disappointed that there were no meat free sausages though. Overall, we were pleased with our stay, the hotel is in a great location, room clean and spacious and the staff were friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

Sorry you missed your vegi sausages, but I have always thought that offering \"Fake\" meat to vegetarians,

was a bit off , and so have made it a policy not to. We do offer a good selection of vegetarian food and hope you will have time to sample it next time you are down.

The landlord was very obliging and friendly and nothing was too much trouble and the chef as well. The room was nice and warm and the breakfast was very good.I found the stairs difficult as they were steep and narrow but in a period property this is to be expected and although I didnt like them it would\'nt stop me from staying at Hawthorns again.

Thank you for your comments, yes I agree the public toilets do need upgradeing and are set to be completly refurbished in January, as we will have to close for a few days to facilitate the make over. The place kind of grew on us. At first we were a bit in shock, the place was closed when we arrived, I got no response on my call and when we finally could get in, the interior looked a bit worn. What A Great Place To Stay
When I booked a room for the three of us i expected a largish room with enough space for us to move around without bumping into each other. What we got was almost a mansion in its own right!! A great room on two levels with oceans of room. Very clean and tidy with very good ensuite facilities. The pub cat obviously has great taste because she chose to sleep in our room! The evening food at the pub was of excellent quality. The curries we had were the best pub ones we have eaten. Breakfast was also very good. Just what we needed to send us on our way to Monmouth, our next destination on our bike ride from Land's end to John O Groats (where we arrived as planned on 17 July). Thanks for a wonderful stay, especially for letting us use your washing machine and drier.

Distance 7.46 miles (11.94 km)
The course features breathtaking panoramic views over the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Valley, Glastonbury Tor and the Somerset Levels from the gently undulating fairways. It has been carefully designed to maintain and enhance the existing environment, the many mature trees and hedgerows create a natural parkland setting. The course is an 18 hole par 70 of just over 6000 yards, consisting of 2 nine hole loops both of which start and finish at the clubhouse. It will definitely provide a challenge for the experienced golfer with some tight driving holes and tricky par 3s, whilst also being gentle enough for the less skilful player.

Mendip Golf Club - Radstock - Golf

Distance 9.21 miles (14.73 km)
Mendip Golf Club was originally founded in 1907, on land near the Old Great Western Railway at the village of Doulting, Somerset. A year later it moved to its current site as a 9 hole course. It was designed by a member of the famous Vardon Family. In 1965 the course was changed to 18 holes, the additional 9 being designed by Frank Pennick. In 1988 the par was extended to 71 by purchase of land and the reconstruction of holes 12 to 14. After an enjoyable day's golf you can relax in our comfortable bar to recount the memories of the lengthy 10th or testing 18th green. You will find a warm welcome awaits you from all staff at Mendip, a Club with a reputation for excellent hospitality.

Long Sutton Golf Club - Long Sutton - Golf

Distance 9.26 miles (14.81 km)
LONG SUTTON is a privately owned golf course set in 118 acres of Somerset. The gently rolling landscape, with wonderful views over the Kingsmoor levels, has immense appeal to the seasoned golfer and the novice alike. The long, undulating fairways and the beautifully maintained greens of this parkland course provide the greatest pleasure to golfers of all standards. The settings and conditions, however, tend to belie the challenge presented by some tricky par 3s and four demanding par 5s. Long irons are always put to the test and scoring well can prove a little difficult! All this has been carefully integrated around a striking clubhouse which is open to the public 7 days a week.
