Great Place To Visit Bath
A nice pub with nice rooms. We had 2 bathrooms (1 toilet and shower and 1 very large room with freestanding bathtub).

Very friendly service and a short bus ride into the city (Only athletics take the steep path up to the hotel).

The breakfast was a pleasure.

The rather austere exterior belied the welcome we received. Staff could not have been more helpful. Our room was quirky but comfortable. We had an excellent full English breakfast. The centre of Bath is a 5 minute taxi drive away.

Great Place To Stay!
Cant fault this hotel! Friendly, attentive, helpful staff. Large, clean, comfortable room and bathroom with a luxurious shower. Close to Bath center either walking or by bus which stops right outside. Freshly prepared breakfast which was lovely, as were our two evening meals. There often seem to be offers on the evening meals too. Very, very highly recommended.

Pleasent All Round
We had a very pleasant stay for four nights at the Bear. All the staff were very friendly and happy to be of use. We had the Chauser room which was perfectly fine and quiet at the rear of the pub. Situated about a 12 minute walk from Bath town centre. 15 mins up hill.

Or a 5 minute bus ride for the less able.

Had to wait about 50 minutes for our Tuesday night meal but it is cooked fresh . So expect a longer wait than preprocessed food. I would have given five stars for it but the front of the Hotel is looking a bit tired. Upgrade the frontage and its a little gold mine of a place

The Staff were lovely. Guarenteed parking is a massive plus.

My partner and I stayed here for our last weekend away before the baby. The room was beautiful with a seperate room for the shower/toilet and the most amazing bath. The bed was comfortable and the room was perfect. We had nothign to worry about with a hairdryer and filter coffee/ real tea. The hotel had it\'s own parking and was only a 15 minute walk into the centre. To top it all off, breakfast was amazing. I would highly highly reccomend!

Very good rooms at a reasonable cost. Breakfast was awesome. Menu looked good but as we stayed on a Sunday the only choice was pizza so we ate out.

Be aware the road outside is extremely busy and noisy and you can\'t have ya window open after 5.30am as it is too loud. The bed is amazingly comfortable. Great staff and good value for money.

The bear\'s location is a ten minute walk down hill to the city\'s bus station ,and a one pound journey uphill to the bus stop right outside the bear, if the shopping as being successful.Free on site parking is always good !no charge\'s, or carrying bags any distance.Met with a very friendly and smiling face at check in, in fact all the staff were particularly friendly,

Fantastic Place To Stay, With Welcoming Staff
The staff at this hotel were more than accommodating. From the minute I stepped into the hotel, my partner and I were were made to feel extremely special. The decor and our room \'kipling\' was very edgey & in with the times. We loved the comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom and the balcony, which we spent on the late afternoons sat out on. The location, breakfast, food and drink were really reasonable, particularly as this hotel/ pub was in Bath. The manager and his staff were amazing, with me looking already to book for next year. Fantastic value for money!!!!

With breakfast and a delicious one at that, all included in the price. Thank you for an amazing Easter break.

Food in the restaurant was fantastic, really high quality food - really fancy twists on traditional meals which made it quite exciting. So breakfast was top notch with lots of selection!

Little Gem
Stayed for 1 night in Kipling room. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean. Loved the eclectic recycled furniture, retro 70\'s sideboards, church pews, typewriters, candelabra\'s etc. Warm friendly atmosphere in the bar in the evening (perfect for drinking Prosecco). Breakfast was amazing I had eggs Benedict whilst hubby had full English. The Bear is approx 12 min walk from central Bath but be aware that it is down a rather steep hill so remember that to get back to hotel you need to go up said hill or hop on a bus. Overall a positive stay.

The room was very spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was very modern and the shower very reviving. Tea and coffee making facilities were good. The only gripes are outside noise and the small TV. But the noise soon died down.

The food menu was limited and would not be suitable for young children. But the quality and taste of the food made up for lack of choice. Breakfast was equally well cooked. We will us the Bear again

Weekend Stay
Am going to give this 5 stars as this place is such a gem. For starters free parking which is practically unheard of in Bath! A 10 minute walk downhill into town & a short & cheap bus ride back up with the bus stopping right outside. Fabulous big room with some lovely quirky touches & a shower to die for with lovely big fluffy towels & lots of different teas & proper fresh coffees in the room. All the staff are just lovely and so helpful & the breakfasts (although they take a while to arrive) are obviously all cooked fresh and are some of the best I have ever eaten. Good Bed And Breakfast
We used to live in Bath, just up the road from the pub, and you would never go to the pub then, so returning to Bath for a night we thought it would be interesting to try it out.

Well the pub has undergone an amazing transformation!

We paid £85 for bed and breakfast, which by Bath standards is good value.

They have developed the rooms in a certain style, I felt like I was back in my living room as a child!! But nice to be different.

Rooms are fairly basic, but the beds were comfortable, the shower was very powerful, and they are the most important things.

We did have a room overlooking the road, and with the new slide glass window system, we could not hear the traffic at all and slept very well.

The staff are all young, but excellent, friendly, professional and happy! Gives it all a great vibe.

Breakfast in the morning was very good, fresh coffee of your choice and you can select from their Breakfast menu. Full English costs about £12, so if you both had that, then it makes the room very good value! We enjoyed the Vegetarian, but be warned it is massive, my husband could not finish it and I had a bowl of Granola and yogurt. (If I was paying the £6 charged for it, I would expect some fresh fruit with it, as it was not good value if compared to the cooked options)

Would I recommend, yes definitely if you understand it is quite simple, but everything that needs to be good is, like beds, showers, breakfast are perfect.

I feel the owners could keep it in slightly better condition, our room door looked like it had been forced open, plus perhaps soften it a bit? But that is just my opinion.

Good value accommodation, with parking, a 10 minute downhill walk to Bath.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights over New Years and we have both said how brilliant this hotel was.

The rooms were spacious and had a vintage feel to it. Our room had a double shower which was a cool feature, especially for us as it saved time. Vibrant bar and restaurant area. The evening food was very good and reasonable in price too! Also we had free breakfast included in our booking and the breakie is not to be missed! (Although we didn\'t get up in time New Year\'s Day for it lol)

The staff are fantastic. In the mornings there was a very chirpy, vibrant and polite young man (apologise but didn\'t catch his name) just so he gets recognisian he was the black dude who was very well spoken and well, Frankly gave excellent service! Also the young girl with the auburn/ginger coloured hair was very polite and happy. Then at night there was another young chap who couldn\'t do enough for you. It was very busy New Year\'s Eve but he made a lot of effort and got us a dinner table with 10 minutes notice. He also pointed us out places to go in the night. Only 5/10 mins from the city centre and although on a main road, you still had a sound sleep. Overall I gave this place 5 stars because we had a fantastic experience in the bear and would recommend it to anybody. Happy new year guys!!

Favourably Impressed.
We stayed for three nights over Christmas which we were spending with family within walking distance. So highly convenient for that, as well as being within an easy walk of the city centre. The room we had was generally very good (Kipling) although the lighting could have been better. A nice big shower room and plenty of shelf space. It would have been nice to have had two chairs, not only one. The room was well provide with tea-making ingredients, but some of this was in the mugs. So if you wanted tea these items had to be tipprd on to the side. Why not have a jar for them? The breakfast was American-style but nicely cooked. Best of all, however, were the staff who were cheerful, friendly and helpful. So, very good. We would stay again.

Lovely And Retro
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bear. Credit goes to staff who were all very friendly and receptive. But a special mention to a young chap called Derek. An absolute credit to the company with his lovely chat and nature. We loved the retro feel of the furniture and surroundings.

The food was lovely.

The only downside was the noise of the electrical motors outside our bedroom window which kept me awake. We will definitely come back but ask for a room away from that. Jane and Nick Harriott

We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at The Bear. The staff were extremely welcoming & the room very comfortable. My only slight criticism was that breakfast was a bit confusing. Good Value For Money Close To The City Centre
The staff were really friendly and couldn\'t help enough. The location was in a nice district of Bath up a steep hill (not unusual if you\'re staying outside of the centre) and was within a short bus ride into town. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. The full English breakfast was huge to the extent that I didn\'t need to eat lunch. The bar itself was popular with a great range of drinks.

The wooden floor upstairs was noisy during footfall which was fine normally other than late at night when I think staff were closing and checking security. That could have been done quieter as well as the chat. This shouldn\'t put people off from booking, just the staff need to be aware.

The breakfast menu appeared to be a bit limited if you wanted fruit or cereal for example

Excellent bar, good choice of gin. 15 mins downhill to Bath centre. Helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble (and we were very fussy guests). Free parking too! The Staff Make This Place!
Stayed here for a night on our mini moon. This was the cheapest hotel we stayed in on our mini moon but turned out to be the one that offered the best in terms of customer service which made it one of the best hotels. Upon arrival met by the charming bar man who immediately offered us a drink after a long journey. He congratulated us and took the time to talk to us. He then assisted my husband with the luggage to the room insisting that all I carried was my handbag. After settling into the quirky room we then went back down to the bar and was drawn a map of how to get to places with minimal effort and steps. (This is a gods send when your heavily pregnant) the room had everything that was needed and was quite comfortable and I loved the raindrop shower head. A few have commented on noise levels from the bar but we had a room at the front and can honestly say it didn\'t bother us one bit and we weren\'t aware of any noise from the bar and only a bit from the traffic outside but not enough that it caused any issue. The hotel is situated within walking distance to sites/attractions. Breakfast is served in the bar and was of a generous portion and we were able to keep our car in the car park for the duration of the day after checkout to continue site seeing. All in all this hotel is not the most luxurious but it has everything you need, ideally located and great value for money but what really makes this hotel is the staff. It\'s a first class personalised service which is far better than I have recieved in other much more expensive hotels

A Nice But Not \"grand\" Place To Use For A Visit To Bath
We loved this hotel from the moment we arrived. The welcome was so warm and friendly. The dining area is \"understated\" - there are no table cloths; after all the establishment is also a pub. However, the menu is ambitious and the cooking is much above average. The tomato soup was the nicest we have eaten anywhere. The service was attentive and friendly and a plus for the hotel. The room (and the whole establishment) was still being redecorated and it lacked enough places to put down clothes. But the new proprietor knows this and will put it right. The double bed was very comfortable. The bathroom will be very adequate when the hooks are in place.

Overall The Bear is a very pleasant place to use for a visit to Bath. Bath is no place for a car and The Bear has good parking and has a town bus stop right outside its front door!.

Amazing Bed Even Better Pizza!
My boyfriend and I attended a wedding close by on the Saturday so thought we\'d pass through Bath and stay the night at the bear. Unfortately my boyfriend wasn\'t well and I was nursing a hangover but luckily for us our room had the most comfiest bed, where he slept all afternoon and I watched a film very cosy and comfortably, we then went downstairs and had a pizza each, as a chef, and spent 4 years making pizzas I know how hard it is too make good fresh pizzas and these were amazing and the prawns were cooked to perfection. The scrambled egg with toast in the morning was Devine also!

The staff were lovely, we tried to check in early and although the staff were busy with Sunday lunch, they were very polite and accommodating and managed to get us in early! (Which my boyfriend definitely appreciated.)

Not the weekend we planed but it was definitely made up by staying here, I would 100% recommend it.

Loved The Personal Touch
I went to university in bath nearly 10 years ago and came back with my husband to watch some friends theatre company, and we decided to make a weekend of it.

The Bear was a perfect base for our 2 night stay. We did not have a honeymoon and this was a little break. I e-mailed The Bear beforehand mentioning it was like a mini-moon and they were wonderful! They upgraded our room and even put a beautiful boquet of flowers in the room (which are now sitting on my coffee table). We were greeted so warmly and really looked after by all the staff, with Chris giving us some advice on how to spend our Saturday with an entertaining commentary:)

The room was lovely and the breakfast a 10/10.

We loved that the bedrooms are named after writers and loved the smurfs on the landing!

I would definitely stay here again.

This is a great hotel, very friendly staff and tasty food (breakfast is tremendous!). The room was good, however it was rather sparse and the bed could have been a kingsize as there is sufficient room - seems a shame to just have a double. Bathroom very good, apart from a rusty soap dispenser on the wall - recommend you just remove this as it ruins the aesthetic. Fantastic Long Weekend At The Bear
We have just returned from Bath having spent a memorable Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at The Bear. We were made to feel very welcome and were impressed with the room (Shakespeare) and the bar and restaurant facilities. Our breakfast and evening meal there were faultless and delicious. The following members of staff all deserve a special mention: Gium, Ben, Bess and a young Polish waitress (whose name sadly we didn\'t get). They could not do enough for us and they made us feel at home and very welcome. We highly recommend this establishment.

Great Welcome
Friendly and helpful staff and a warm welcome. After seeing the room (Byron) we were a bit concerned regarding the noise as we were in the front and above the bar - we didn\'t need to worry as no noise came up from the bar and, with the windows closed, any traffic noise was muted enough not to cause a worry. Delicious evening meals in sufficient quantity. The cooked breakfast was very nice, but a selection of cooked breakfast, cereal and toast, etc., is now usually expected, rather than an either / or option.

Great hotel!!!! The 2 lads behind the bar were fantastic. So enthusiastic and looked like they really enjoyed working there. I only had breakfast but the quality again was fantastic and I believe all room prices include breakfast. Main reason I stayed there was for the fact it has a car park. The room itself was great value and a very good size. Bathroom nice and modern. Only 10 minute walk to city centre but only thing I would say is its a the top of a steep hill so elderly may struggle but taxi is very cheap into town.

I used The Bear for an overnight stay before an assessment day at Royal Photographic Society HQ just around the corner. The staff were friendly and helpful, albeit slightly inexperienced. The room was spacious and clean, even if a little spartan. The bed was comfortable. En suite facilities met my needs. The pub restaurant downstairs is obviously trying to establish a reputation. The food is OK. The scrambled egg at breakfast was delicious. You need to walk down a steep hill to reach the city centre, but a regular bus service stops right outside the hotel. I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious with my girlfriends ratatouille. My girlfriend had the ratatouille which she also thought was delicious. As for the espresso martini, it was first class. All in all, zazus the restaurant and the bear hotel was a brilliant stay. No problems or issues with any staff of food. Second Honeymoon
We arrived to a warm welcome on Wednesday afternoon before going in to the city centre which was a very short drive away. Was pleasantly surprised to be offered breakfast in our room for the following morning. The room and facilities were lovely and intimate and the staff so helpful in recommending a restaurant and pub which we thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was superb in the morning. Building work was going on but it didn\'t affect our stay at all. I would recommend this hotel!

5 Night In Bath
We chose The Bear because it was slightly outside of the main city and the reviews were interesting.Unfortunately we chose the week when renovating started to update this venue which meant the dining area and part of the bar was closed,so we did not see this venue at its best. On saying that it has great potential and the staff being one of its biggest assets. They were extremely friendly and helpful and I would like to thank them for making our stay very welcoming. The rooms were a little sparse and ours in particular had lots of traffic noise unfortunate on a sunny day when the windows need to be open maybe a ceiling fan would make life more comfortable and on that note our little group craved a chest of draws just to be able to unpack our suitcase an age thing maybe!

Good luck with the refurb I will be checking the website for the new look

Couldn\'t really fault our stay at the Bear.

Good location for a ten minute walk inti the city centre. Not too keen on the walk back up the hill though.Room was excellent, but for the squeaky floor, good bed, shower, tea coffee facilities etc.Nice and clean .Although under refurbishment at the moment

it didn\'t affect us at all.A special mention to Jasmine and Francis , two staff members who were really polite and helpful. Would stay here again.

Great Hotel, Close To City Centre!
Even though the hotel is not much to look at from the outside we were pleasantly surprised when we checked in. The room was very comfortable with everything we needed - comfy bed was really appreciated after a day of sightseeing. Staff were friendly and chatty. Hotel has its own free parking. The hotel is situated right next to convenient stores so we were able to get snacks and drinks for the room. A short walk into town and we were in the main centre. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend to anyone. :)

Everything You Need
Returned to Manchester today after a one night stay in Bath to use a voucher for the Thermae Bath Spa. Came across The Bear hotel after doing some extensive research and thought it sounded perfect- turns out it was! The Bear is a modern pub with hotel rooms above, all named after famous writers. We stayed in the Shakespeare room at the front of the hotel and had no issue with noise from the pub or from anything going on outside. Breakfast was included in our stay and we both went for the Big Bear breakfast which was a full English and it was lovely. After having a wander round Bath for a bit, we came back for some dinner and had chicken and bacon filled ciabattas which were amazing. The only thing that annoyed me (and this is purely down to me being a typical vain girl when it comes to getting ready) is that there was no mirror in the main room and only in the bathroom which had no plug sockets so I couldn\'t see what I was doing when I was styling my hair. Overall though I was very impressed and wouldn\'t hesitate to recommend The Bear to anyone planning a stay in Bath. Helpful staff, delicious food, simplistic and modern rooms- you can\'t go wrong.

Good Hotel For A Short Weekend In Bath
We stayed for two nights at The Bear, as part of a weekend away in Bath. I had read good reviews which is why I booked the hotel. It was in a good location, with a 10 minute walk into the city centre.

I had asked for a \"quiet\" room when booking the hotel and we were offered a room at the back of the hotel which was above the terrace. As a result, the room was quite noisy on the Friday evening when the terrace was busy. Other than that, the hotel was quiet.

The room was clean and spacious, but it was very hot and the desk fan which was already in the room, was on all night, both nights.

The breakfast was great, good choice, very tasty and all in the cost of the room.

Overall a good stay.

It\'s The Climb
At first the hotel wasn\'t that easy to find. I made several wrong turns from the Rail Station, and had to get help from Google map with location service. However, after finding the hotel correctly, it wasn\'t that far away from the Rail Station, about 20 minutes walk if picking the right route. The hill is a little bit steep with the suitcase, but wasn\'t too hard. I love the room I stayed so much! It was a lot bigger than I imagined and had a great view! The staff was very helpful and offered a bucket of food when learning that I wouldn\'t be able to make the breakfast because of an early train. Although there\'s no staff before 8 AM, but they offered early check-out. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bath.

3 Nights In Bath
Rooms extremely basic, definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Restaurant offers two fish dishes besides the standard steaks and burgers which was really appreciated.

Own parking area is another positive aspect.

Location at the top of the hill is perfect for leaving Bath quickly but requests quite a walking time to the city centre, however, that's manageable bus/taxi can be used for return.

Being on holidays we've been not in a hurry but waiting for breakfast for more than one hour at departure missing the necessary kitchen staff is basically not acceptable.

To summarize: main criticism on room equipment and breakfast service.

Great Hotel, Shame About The Parking
We really enjoyed our stay at The Bear - conveniently located within easy walking distance of the city centre, the hotel has friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable rooms, a nice bar and good food etc. My only criticism is in regards to the car park, which is a little awkward with people parking somewhat haphazardly - we parked within a marked bay but came down on our last morning to discover that someone had bumped our car and shunted it backwards several inches, almost into the stone wall behind - whoever was responsible left no note. Whilst I certainly don't hold the hotel responsible, I was disappointed that they didn't have CCTV coverage of the car park - they take details of guests' cars so would have been able to help identify the person responsible so they could be reported to the police for leaving the scene of an accident.

A Mixed Bag
Staying at the Bear was a mix of highs and lows. The room was (Chaucer) well appointed with a comfortable bed and good sized bathroom. On the downside, it was noisy, and if the windows were shut it became too stuffy to sleep. The breakfast was nice, but it took 40 minutes to come out after ordering each morning. It also lacked some healthy options, and there was no fresh cold water which we could serve ourselves. The pub food is fantastic, obviously an extra. It may also be time for the communal hotel iron to be upgraded. Parking was ample and convenient. Overall it was a pleasant stay, but either the price of the rooms need to come down to reflect it is at a pub which is noisy, or something needs to be done about the noise - such as double glazed windows and Air Con units in each room.

Lovely breakfast, really nice that you can order the breakfast instead of a buffet. Croissants are amazing! A bit noisy with the wooden floors. Would recommend perhaps more carpets within the rooms to absorb some of the sound. Our room was next to a family with a young toddler that was running around from 6am in the morning, with the wooden floors we could hear every single step from the room next door. Quite noisy with the road just outside the room window, not sure what can be done do better soundproof the room. Wooden blinds lets a lot of light in early morning. A Few Minor Issues
The location of the bear was good, breakfast fantastic, just a few issues on our stay. We pushed the beds together in our room & clearly it hadnt been cleaned under the beds for some time & there was also a sock. We had been in our room say 20 minutes & somebody just walked in, without even knocking, although he was very apologetic. Teabags not replaced once you have used them. We stayed for 2 nights & after the 1st night the room was serviced whilst we were out, on returning the bed had been made & there were blood on the sheets, also we had no toilet paper, we advised reception of this & this was sorted out promptly. On paying the bill we were given a £30 discount as apparently the housekeeper had cut her hand so ours wasnt the only room with this problem. Overall a nice stay, although i have to say the thing i am most concerned with is that on the back of my invoice from the hotel is the staff's name's, wage's for the week & their national insurance numbers?! Surely this is a data protection breech?

The cocktails were lovely and were two 4 one, breakfast was amazing one of the best we've had and the staff were very friendly and helpful :)

Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable and we loved the retro touches.

The bed and bedding was very comfortable and cosy.

The only downside to this hotel was it looked more like a pub from the outside and it was a 15 minute up hill walk to get there from the town centre.

We ended up getting cabs which were only £5-£7 which overall still worked out cheaper than staying in one of the pricer hotels in the centre of Bath.

Other than the location we were more than happy with our stay! :)

Fantastic Staff But The Facilities Let It Down A Little.
First of all I would like to say that we very much enjoyed our stay here recently. We were only here for one night but the staff, and Kelly in particular, made it a very enjoyable and easy experience.

They assisted us in getting around Bath, supplying a map and some local recommendations, and even offered to extend our check out time on learning that we were a little worse for wear the next morning. All the staff we encountered were friendly, enthusiastic and eager to help.

Unfortunately whilst the room was lovely and spacious we did find a few problems. Firstly the shower door came off its rollers when we attempted to use it. Secondly the room that we were in had a his and hers shower feature, however this was impossible to use due to the way it had been plumbed. You could not get hot water out of both showers simultaneously which unfortunately meant this nice feature was redundant.

The rest of the hotel was great however. Breakfast was delicious and the chef was accommodating when we requested some alterations to the set menu. The bar area was really nice and homely and drinks not too expensive.

Would definitely stay again but perhaps would request the room with a bath instead.

Oh What A Night!
Good location and facilities with friendly & helpful staff. We paid extra for a back room believing it to be in a quieter location. Unfortunately the large noisy industrial kitchen extractor fan was located directly outside our room. The first night wasn't a problem as the extractor fan was switched off when the kitchen closed about 22.00 hrs. On our second night the extractor fan was left on ALL NIGHT! The noise was incredible and as a result the night seemed endless and no sleep was had. Therefore our rating of only 3 reflects our much disturbed nights rest!

It's a bit far away to city center but it's worth it.

Great stay. Only there for the night but the staff we found wonderfully helpful and the food was exquisite! Steak night was top notch! One very small gripe was the WiFi in the room (Byron) was very slow indeed - but that wouldn't stop us returning! Cheers guys!

Overnight Stay
I arrived at The Bear at about half seven to find a fairly busy pub which was lovely to see on a Tuesday. I was shown to very large and comfortable room by a polite member of staff. My room was at the back so I didn't have any noise from the bar/restaurant downstairs or from the road. It was a little noisy at about 23:00 but this was nothing that disturbed me. The only point I would made was the noise from the floorboards outside the bedroom could be a little loud but nothing a slightly larger rug wouldn't rectify. All the facilities were clean, tidy and very stylish. Overall for the price I paid The Bear was a steal and I will definitely recommend highly and return in the future.

Bear Facts - It's Very Good!
Arrived and made feel very welcome! Shown to room where all services provided were explained!

Breakfast each morning was a good selection, and freshly made to order each time.

A good selection of wines and spirits. Merlot and Highland Park come pleasantly to mind!

Overall excellent value and there a welcome for you at the Bear!

A Good Base For Exploring Bath-with Fabulous Food
A lovely welcome, amazing food and hospitality. The rooms were big and spacious with really cool decor. The only downside was that our room (Shelley) was rather noisy, as it was on the street side and directly above the pub.

However, we would definitively recommend this hotel as a good base for exploring beautiful Bath. The breakfast is delicious and certainly set us up for the day!

Great Find Close To Student Area
We chose The Bear as it was close to where our student daughter is staying. What a great find! We certainly will be back. Nice modern clean room tastefully decorated with retro furniture. Staff very friently and helpful. Biggest surprise was that we arrived on Burn's Night to find there was a special Burn's menu and live Scottish entertainment - a big bonus as I am from Edinburgh!! Great restaurant.

Simple And Nice
We stayed here in October 2013. The pub wasn't noisy at all, so we had a restful night. Our room was on the back of the building, so we had no traffic noise from the busy street. The room was nicely furnished--simple and clean. Pleasant atmosphere. Breakfast was a little on the sparse side, but it served its purpose. We walked into town so we didn't have to worry about parking. About a 10 minute walk.

Fabulous Stay
After paying more for a B and B just up the road, we decided to extend our stay in Bath at the Bear. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating, the facilities had been recently tastefully updated and it was spotlessly clean. Breakfasts were very good too. Wish we had spent our whole time in Bath at this place. Mum and I would highly recommend it for other travellers. Credit to the management bar and waiting staff!

Short Weekend Break
We had a great 2 night stay. The room was surprisingly spacious considering we'd booked one of the smaller ones. It was very clean, the staff we're lovely, very good breakfast included in the price. Good location to walk into the town. If we really had to say something negative it would be that the hotel might want to consider double or secondary glazing for the windows, as it is quite a busy noisy road, with a bus stop outside and shops taking early morning deliveries, our sleep was disturbed

Thumbs Up
Stayed at the Bear for one night only on a business trip. Very modern, spacious and tastefully done throughout. Minimalist in the rooms, which suits me fine. Traffic might annoy some people, but I live on a main road so not bothered myself. Staff were all very helpful and attentive. Food was excellent and not too expensive for the quality. Have already recommended to work colleagues. Breakfast not served until 08:00 but I had a breakfast tray to take to my room ready for an early start.

Fantastic Place To Stay
The brand new rooms at The Bear, really are fantastic. Only slight challenge is the noise from the pub, but if you are staying in a pub you have to expect some noise!! The food was also fantastic, had the rump steak which I have to say was cooked to perfection (and I am difficult to please when it comes to steaks!) Would definitely return to The Bear next time we are looking for somewhere to stay in Bath.

Response from Hotel
Thank you for your lovely comments. We have taken on board your comments with the noise and corrected the volume. I hope to see you again soon

Room / Stay Review
We stayed at the Bear on Saturday 14th September, just a matterof days after the refurbishment had been completed. The decor and qualityof the rooms was excellent, all fresh and well decorated. We had an issue with our shower and bathroom light which was sorted out very quickly by the staff. I would like to make a couple of suggestions: the wood floor in rooms and hall ways is loveley but very noisy with people moving in and out of rooms and can be heard from in the rooms while trying to sleep, maybe some sort of carpet runner would cut down on noise . Also in the room we stayed in "Shakespere" there was no chair to allow me to sit at the dressing table to do my hair & makeup and it would also be good to have a lamp on the dressing table i had to move the bedside lamp to shine light on the mirror. It would also be very helpfuly to have perhaps an easy chair to put things on as the clothes hanging area was very nice but not practical. The staff were all extremely helpfuly and the service provided was excellent. I would certainly stay again.
