Excellent Choice
Your first time in Chester. The guest house is stunning with lots of period features lovingly restored and all the rooms with some really lovely furniture. The hospitality shown by Helen and Colin was second to none. Breakfast really sets you up for the day with a wide choice of really good food. The lounge is very comfortable and relaxing with a well stocked bar at extremely reasonable prices. I would have no hesitation in recommending the guest house to anyone. We will definitely return. Put it in your favourites - it’s in mine!!

Thank you so much Helen and Colin for making our stay in Chester so memorable.

10/10.
The minute we arrived right up until we left was perfect. The host were really considerate, thoughtful, and had anticipated our every need. Rooms were spacious, very welcoming with tea coffee and biscuits ect and lovely toiletries for our use, peaceful sleep in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was second to none. Great choice of cereals, fresh fruit, pastries even home produced honey (which was lovely). The cooked breakfast was fantastic quality items that where possible were locally sorced and with a good choice of everything. We got married the morning that we arrived and we both had a brilliant honeymoon made possible by Helen and Colin. Thank you for a lovely visit. We'll definitely be back again.

The Perfect B&b
What you want from a B&B for the night is a friendly welcome, a clean comfortable and quiet room for the night and a great Breakfast to send you on your way. This is exactly what Mitchells provide, perfectly. Plus an interesting and characterful old house, plus knowledgeable (but not pushy) hosts and a good location.

Next time we need to overnight in Chester, this is the first place we would choose. So should you.

Great Place To Stay, Cenral Location But Quiet
The room we shared was lovely with all mod cons.there was a lovely big shower, hair dryer and even down to cotton buds, cotton wool pads as well as cafetiere and coffee sachets to use it in. It was very clean and tidy and the breakfast was fantatic the lady who owned the place had our room ready early so we could check in before the races. We wiuld definitely recommend to others and stay again ourselves

Wonderful Guest House, Perfectly Located
We stayed two nights at Mitchells, in the kingsize room. The house is immaculate, our room had lovely bedding, and nice soft towels. The toiletries were also very nice. We had drinks from the honesty bar which is well priced (by hotel standards). In the morning the breakfast was extremely varied, and service was quick. The coffee was very good. The location is perfect for walking into Chester across the bridge, which offers great views of the race course. We ate at Luke's eating house on St. John Street and that was also excellent.

The owners, Helen and Colin, were lovely and gave some great advice before and during our stay. If we come to Chester again, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Thank you. We\'re glad that you mentioned the City. It really is a medieval gem with its roots deep into Roman Britain. You Get What You Pay For
My wife and I decided on a short break in Chester. When we saw the name of this guest house we decided that we had to check this place out as we have the same surname. The reviews looked promising so we booked.

From the coffee and biscuits on arrival, just what we needed after the drive down, to the standard of the rooms, a cafetierre and ground coffee is standard in the rooms along with Thierry Mugler toiletries, and the hospitality and knowledge of the owners, we were asked if we had been to Chester previously and when we stated we hadn't were shown on the map eactly where we were, some points of interest, and the shortest way to get places, everything is just that bit extra than you would get in some other hotels.

Then there are the breakfasts.

Fruit juice, choice of cereals, fruit salad, yoghurt, fresh fruit, fresh coffee, so far so normal. Then the fry up arrives. It looks exactly like you would expect from any other hotel but tastes so much better. This is the breakfast you get when you get proper quality meat from your butcher and cook it fresh for each customer. Nothing sits waiting for someone to collect it you get what you ask for cooked fresh and served to your table.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay and when we return to Chester will have no hesitation in booking to stayt here again.

You are quite right. January and February are the quieter months, but even these times have their individual attractiveness. Chester's mild weather micro climate allows ample time to enjoy both the city and surrounding country-side.

Five Stars
Very clean room with a comfortable bed we were made welcome by our host & hostess Colin & Helen.

Attention to detail is superb from your first cup of tea on arrival through to breakfast on the day you leave, the room itself has had a lot of thought put in to it to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.

Excellent Guest House
From the tea & coffee on our arrival, to the advice on where to visit and eat in Chester (with discounts for guests..!!) the whole stay was superb..

The room was lovely, comfortable and clean. The en-suite was well stocked with nice toiletries and the room was well furnished and appointed.

The breakfasts were superb and with a vast choice available there really is something for every taste.

If you are looking for a high quality guest house close enough to the city of Chester to walk into but far enough away to be quiet and peacefull we would happily and heartily recommend staying at Mitchells.

Thanks for a fantastic break,

Home From Home, With A Touch Of Luxury
We were very welcomed and felt at home at this lovely guest house! The room was huge, and immaculately presented, with lots of thoughtful added extras (robes, spare blankets, different teas and coffees including decaf). The breakfast was delicious and the hosts were attentive, offering us advice about the sights of Chester. All in all, we would definitely stay again!

Relaxing Mini Break.
We chose to go to chester for a mini break and this guest house was perfect. We had a large room with a king bed, it had everything you could need and more so. The bed was very comfortable and at breakfast there were many optionss to choose. All in all it was very good value and was 10 minutes walk to the city centre. We would definitely recommend this guesthouse and we would stay here again.

An interesting walk into the city might seem like 10 minutes, it's so enjoyable, but it's more like 20 minutes. There's so much to see.

A Very Good Find
My husband and I stayed here for two nights and were very pleased with our choice. The room was beautifully furnished and the king size bed very comfortable. The bathroom had everything supplied that we could need and was spotless. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and help was given to find places to eat in the evening. Having a bus route so near was a bonus although the walk into the city was quite easy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return.

Lovely Welcome
The booking was made quite a long time ahead and it was reassuring to receive an email shortly before we were due to go to Mitchells, to confirm our booking. When we got there, we were welcomed in and after we had been guided to our rooms we were invited to the lounge for a cup of tea. Helen Mitchell then told us about various attractions in Chester, gave us a map and details of discounts at various places to eat and explained clearly how to get to specific attractions that we mentioned and whether we would need to walk or drive to them. The guesthouse is within easy walking distance of Chester and we chose to use our car only in the evenings when parking is easier.

The rooms we had booked were as photographs and had thoughtful touches, kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, hot chocolate, horlicks, a couple of small easy chairs as well as a full range of toiletries, dressing gowns, spare blankets, hot water bottle, beds were comfortable, breakfast was good with choice of cereals, fruit, fruit juice and cooked part to pre-order with toast and marmalade to follow.

The only negative concerns were the stairs to the top room. Although relatively fit I did find it a struggle to do the last couple of steps with my suitcase. Mr Mitchell was there when we arrived and did take one of my fellow guests suitcase and I am sure he would have taken mine if I had found it impossible to do so. However, if you do find climbing stairs difficult you might want to get a room on the first floor rather than the second.

When we left, we were given a small gift and a little teddy bear each. We were very pleased with these.

Warm Hospitality
We arrived early and were offered with a most welcome pot of tea, (or coffee) which we sat and enjoyed in a beautiful sitting room. Our room was immaculate, beautifully appointed, a good bed with very good quality sheets. We had asked for gluten free if possible, which our hosts provided for breakfast. This has previously been a problem, but not here. The hosts are truly hospitable and we would happily return.

Haven On Timeless Peace
What a gem to find not to far from the centre of the bustling city of Chester. It was beautifully presented with little touches to make your stay memorable (for all the right reasons!) From the warm welcome when you arrive to the genuine thanks you and good bye when you leave. Despite being on a main road the place was beautifully quiet and I had a perfect nights sleep. When I return to Chester I know where I will be booking into again

Beautifully decorated Victorian building. Our front facing room was well proportioned and tastefully finished, complimented by a large en-suite, complete with a full sized bath. The address is well situated within easy walking distance of the city centre. Breakfast was a delight, with a number of menu options and some nice personal touches to create an experience to start the day. Excellent Hospitality And Great Value
I stayed with Mitchells of Chester for 2 nights. I was very pleased with the superb hospitality and friendly home environment inside and out. This big Victorian house was built in 1856; has been refurbished and renovated by the Mitchells since they bought it 30 years ago. It is very well decorated and very clean. The breakfast is prepared by Helen and Colin and serve to the guests themselves. They use everything in fine china and glass; breakfast ingredients are locally produced. Helen and Colin keep their home so welcome that I wish I could stay longer. I found Mitchells from Chester Tourism website and was surprise the rate they charge, it's so cheap comparing to other guest houses I have stayed during my recent travel around U.K. and Ireland. Upon the departure Helen gave me a stuffed bunny as a goodbye, well-wish gift.I was so pleased with everything they provide:a large clean room facility, welcome coffee and cookies, well prepared breakfast, and above all: their superb hospitality and their attentions to the details. I truly have received the best value for the rate I paid. Thank you Helen and Colin.

Exceptional Stay
We were on an anniversary trip and stayed 3 nights at Mitchells Of Chester. I can't stress how wonderful our stay was. I highly recommend this B&B. They were such pleasant hosts, the food was very good and our en suite bedroom was much larger than expected. There was even one time we were going to drive to catch a tour at the train station and didn't realize how difficult parking would be. They offered to drive us to the station to insure we didn't miss our tour. They always went out of their way to make sure every need we had was taken care of.
