Home From Home
Felt like friends from the moment we arrived. Great weekend, delicious breakfast. Keith changed my eggs benedict even though it was my mistake! I sat in the garden on Saturday evening and just listened to the waterfall in the pond and the birdsong....exactly what I needed! Thank you Sue and Keith, I hope we will be back.

Fabulous Stay - Retreat From The Wedding Madness
Sue and Keith couldn't have been better hosts. From trying to alter my booking to assisting with a key locked in my room they showed ultimate professionalism when helping but in a "family" kind of way. The Lodge itself is warm, comfortable and decorated to a great standard. My room was amazing and the cooked breakfast even more so. Would recommend this hotel, and will probably stay again (despite being local) if the need arises to get respite from wedding paraphernalia...I stayed for the duration of my friends' wedding day and a few days after! Thank you Castle Lodge.

Best Guest House We\'ve Visited
Stayed for 5 days last week - lovely clean fresh en suite room overlooking the back garden. After showing us our room Sue invited us to take tea and cakes in the garden room. The hanging baskets would win awards at Chelsea!

Breakfast was a buffet of cereals, fresh fruit, croissants etc plus several choices of cooked courses. Keith and Sue were happy to vary the courses if not exactly what we wanted on the day.

If we're in Highcliffe area again, we know where to stay!

Thanks to you both

Mike and Pam

Breakfast was perfection, with free range Eggs hatched by their own Chickens, a good selection of cereals, fresh fruit etc. The poached Eggs were to die for, and an ample size cooked breakfast also. The beds were so comfy in the twin room, we didn't want to get out of them, The hotel is situated in a beautiful area, with lots of sights to visit. Would highly recommend this hotel to other holiday makers.

Fantastic B&b, Great Service!
Stayed for a wedding at Highcliffe over the August bank holiday weekend. Hotel was lovely and so were Sue and Keith who checked us in. The room was large and comfortable with a bath which was much appreciated. The best part I have to say was the breakfast, the food was fantastic and the service was even better. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel most highly.

Highcliffe Castle - Dorset - Castle

Highcliffe Castle - Dorset - Castle

Distance 0.22 miles (0.35 km)
The Castle was built on the site previously occupied by High Cliff, a Georgian mansion designed for the 3rd Earl of Bute (a founder of Kew Gardens), with grounds laid out by Capability Brown. The Earl's fourth son, General Sir Charles Stuart who sold the estate apart from Bure Homage, a small house on its outskirts, inherited High Cliff. All that remains of High Cliff today are the two entrance lodges, presently being used as a restaurant and some of the garden walls and features on the present estate.

Mudeford Quay - Dorset - Landmark

Mudeford Quay - Dorset - Landmark

Distance 1.67 miles (2.67 km)
Only two miles from Christchurch, Mudeford is a charming fishing village lying at the entrance to Christchurch Harbour, a mecca for water-sports enthusiasts and fishermen. The picturesque quay with its lobster pots, old fishermen's' cottages and Haven House Inn has been traditionally linked with smuggling over the centuries. Nowadays it is not only the centre of the local fishing industry, where fresh fish can be bought from the fish stall, but also a beautiful spot to sit and watch the world go by. Here you can catch the ferry to Mudeford Sandbank, a unique spit of land, which adjoins Hengistbury Head, forming a natural barrier between the harbour and the open sea. It is an ideal spot for a relaxing walk and is easily reached by ferry. Stanpit Marsh is a site of Special Scientific Interest and remains an amazingly unspoilt area of harbour wetlands, which is exceptionally good for the observation and study of winter visiting birds.

Barton-on-Sea Golf Club - New Milton - Golf

Distance 3.06 miles (4.89 km)
Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, founded in 1897, is situated on the coastal cliff between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea. The current 27 holes are a combination of the original Harry Colt design from 1932 and the newer holes designed by the well-known J. Hamilton Stutt, a founder member of the Association of British Golf Course Architects which were completed in 1992. Our elegant and imposing clubhouse is truly spectacular, commanding superb views across the Solent to the Needles on the Isle of Wight, along to Old Harry Rocks at Swanage. Situated overlooking the lake and an Island green, the Clubhouse offers something for every golfer.
